The book of Joel prophesied a time when the Spirit would be poured out on all flesh—sons and daughters would prophesy, young men would see visions, and elders would dream dreams.

Peter confirmed at Shavuot (Pentecost) that this promise was unfolding before their eyes (Acts 2:16–18).

Dreams have always been one of the ways the Holy One speaks. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Solomon, and the prophets received direction, warnings, comfort, and revelation through the night.

He still speaks this way today.

 Why Dreams Still Matter Today. . .

Whether we remember them or not, we all dream. When the Father wants our attention, He knows how to highlight a dream, repeat a symbol, bring it back to memory, or even give someone else a dream meant for us.

Dreams can be:

• Personal

• Prophetic

• Symbolic

• Healing

• Warning

• Confirming

• Connected to others

Your dreams are part of your spiritual life.

When Dreams Touch Real Life

The Manila Envelope Dream

“Sometimes the dream comes first. Then the natural catches up.”

In 2012, I dreamed I received a large manila envelope filled with incorrect medical reports—misdiagnoses and notes that implied I was faking my illnesses. In the dream, my husband covered me in prayer, stretching himself over me like the prophet Elisha over the child.

That very evening in real life, my husband walked through the door carrying an actual manila envelope. My medical records had arrived—and they did contain errors.

We prayed exactly as we had in the dream, and later Mayo Clinic corrected every mistake.

The Holy One prepared us beforehand.

Dreams That Interlock

Dreams can overlap between people. My husband and I often dream parts of the same message. Families also dream connected dreams.

After trying to get pregnant for a long time, a young relative once dreamed my daughter-in-law was pregnant—before the doctors confirmed it. Weeks later, she truly was. That child is now four years old. (8)

Dreams can be signs, confirmations, and encouragements.

The Slander Dream

After stepping down from ministry to study our rest, but rumors and misunderstandings spread. My brother, who knew nothing of the situation, dreamed of a congregation meeting in a strip mall—the exact new location they had moved into.

He saw people speaking harshly about us until someone stood up and silenced them, warning them that I had family present.

The dream revealed the Father was defending us.

We didn’t need to fight—He had already stepped in.

 How to Discern Your Dreams

• Some dreams are symbolic, some literal

• Some are warnings, some are healing

• Some are for you; some are for others

• Pay attention to repeating themes

• Notice how the dream felt

• Pray: “Father, what are You showing me?”

• Sometimes dreams play out immediately

• Sometimes they take years

Dreams are invitations to deeper understanding.

Keep dreaming and meditating on your dreams.

For over twenty years, the Father has taught me through dreams — how to listen, how to discern, and how to rest in the symbols He uses to guide, warn, heal, and comfort.
